This is the actual messy notes that I’ve written down in my journal when I reflected on what’s rich? What’s real abundance. (so pls excuse the messyness)

I’m sharing this to inspire you to think about your answer as well.

Is there really a thing as work life balance?

most people play video games after a day of work — is it relaxing or consume more energy?

real rest is not playing a video game after work (would only feel more tired)

reading books is relaxing? (or would feel more tired)

who says work and life is two different things

e.g. farmers — there is no separate of work and life, life is work and work is life

e.g. housewife — there is no separate of work and life, life is work and work is life

The cause of separation of “work” and “life” could be because:

not that we get physically tired

but we could be mentally tired (no sure why we work, just work for money, feel lost, feel anxious, no fulfilment, no satisfaction, just part of the system can easily be replaceable, tool-like human)

mentality (do a great job vs just muddle through) is the key whether find meaning at work?

What is life?

What’s a happy life?

We are told by magazine — happy couple with a dog

living in a luxury mansion with swimming pool

vs

Life is going to bookstore / free museum?

a newspaper and a cup of coffee?

Lifestyle is a marketing terms around consumption

What I work for?

Money, so that I can buy better and more things.

Travel is also consumption.

Drink and eat is also consumption

Medical is also consumption

Online shopping is also consumption

Our definition of a good life is told by the media and press.

Property prices rise

Not enough to buy flat, property, so spend money on the lifestyle items / experience.

Economic value decides our actions?

Mobile phone consumes our energy

2–3 hours consumption each day

Mobile phone can also be considered as work

social media can also be considered as work

messages can also be considered as work

video games also suck energy

energy wasted on transit

esp during peak hours

and esp on rainy days

but there is housing issue

now people travelling 1–2 hours to work are quite typical

and also this kind of energy consumption is irrelevant to work result or effectiveness

trend of blurring of work / life after remote working

do you believe in work / life balance?

P.S. want to be guided in clearing virus in the brain and creating abundance? I was broke 2 years ago and in just 2 years I went from near $0 to $1m +. I didn’t work harder, I created this.
