How to live a more interesting life? With goals.
Do you know the secrets of ANY achievement? Goals. Without which, we would not possibly live an interesting life because we are likely to surrender to the same routine like a ship parked at the port never setting sail. We settle into boredom and even though we may not like the boredom, over time we will gradually lose the courage to change or do something differently, not to mention to pursue our goals and dreams.
Here are the step-by-step to turn your boring life around:
- clarify what an interesting life look to you.
Each person has their own version of an interesting life — some people love to stay at coffee shop and dive into books which is interesting for them. Some like to go travelling around the world and travelling is what makes life interesting for them. Some like to work on what they enjoy, facing the daily challenge at work is interesting to them. What does interesting life looks to you?
2. Eat the elephant one bite at a time
It’s hard to change a lot instantly but it is much easier if you change just one minor thing each day. If you have no friends now and interesting life to you consists of many new friends everywhere you go, it would be hard for you to become a popular person instantly but nothing can stop you from making one more new friend each week. In a year, you will have 52 new friends and in 5 years 260 — that is more friends than most people have in their lifetime.
3. Create and hold the intention
Is it hard to know one more new friend each week? Not if you keep that intention in your mind! If you have the intention to make friends in your mind, your facial expression and body posture will get the message so that you would appear in a more friendly and approachable manner. And you would be able to discover many friends-making opportunities that you may have overlooked before! Even going downstairs to grab a coffee could be an opportunity for you to make new friends — with the other customers, the coffee shop staff, the barista, or even just someone who happened to be in the same lift with you.
4. Accept new experiences
As you do these, more and more opportunities will come to you. You may be invited to join events, groups, communities, and network. When these opportunities come, see which one fit your idea of an interesting life and accept those which is attractive to you. When you are attracted to something or someone, it is a reflection of yourself that there is something within you that desire that something or qualities of someone. Not only will you live a more interesting life this way, but you would be able to find your life’s goal or the next desirable goal more easily.
5. Achieving your goal to live a more interesting life
A goal is any worthy ideal that you would progressively work towards to realise. Hence, same as any other goal that you may have in life, living a more interest life could be worth devotion of your time and effort if this is what you want in life. And once you set the goal to live a more interesting life, you would need to work progressively towards its accomplishment. There are many aspects included in the goal accomplishment process which I will not explore in details here, but the accomplishment execution is just as important as setting the goal. You need to continuously learn the right information and act in a certain way so that you can predict your future and live the life you want.
