How to be the top 1% in 2024

Lets face it :

No amount of input can change your life or income.

Only when you take action to "output" can you bring changes on yourself and the world.

Everyone in the world seems to be doing quite good in input. After all we spend almost all our spare time consuming content on social media or websites.

The only around 10% of the population is taking action to output.

Output means creation of content or otherwise applications of your knowledge learnt .

No amount of input can make a difference.

Only when you take action to "output" can you make some differences in self or in life.

The value you put out will eventually be reflected in your income.

If you only take in and absorb knowledge (without giving out), there's no value exchange that could happen, and no income change therefore.

How to earn while we learn?

The golden ratio of input: output = 3:7.

This is based on Columbia University experiment where a hundred students aged between 9 and 14 were asked to memorize "Who's Who" silently within nine minutes.

Then the University divided these students into different groups and gave each group a different ratio of "memory time" and "practice time."

In the end, the one with the highest score among the junior students spent 40% of his time on "memory." 60% on practice.

The older the students, the proportion of time they spend on "memorizing" decreases, with the 30% memorising time (70% practice) group achieving the best results among more senior students.

Therefore, beginners should spend 40% of their time inputting and 60% of their time outputting.

More skilled people can spend 30% of the time inputting and 70% of the time outputting.

How to apply the experiment findings in our daily life?

Following the ratio, we have to spend twice the time practicing (taking action) and creating output than the time we spend on one-way input.

Here's a little test -

Just ask ourselves :

how much time are we spending on consuming content each day?

and how much time we're spending on outputting and creating content each day?

You can find out what is your current ratio like?

We can gradually increase the time we spent on output and reduce our time spent on input.

There is one rule I found particularly useful in my own case :

For every content I consume, whether it is a book I read, or video on YouTube I watched, or a podcast I listened to, or a course I attended, or a document I downloaded,

I need to produce at least one piece of output content.

So that my input:output ratio would be at least 1:1

For longer form content (eg book or course) , I would produce at least 2 pieces of content.

So the ratio would be 1:2 (very close to 3:7).

This has proven to significantly reduce my consumption of content because when I feel like I don't want to produce the output content, I would automatically reduce my consumption.

It is a fresh and amazing experience!!

I never feel like I have so much spare time before!

Without consuming as much content, I turn my focus to thinking more, exercise more, and I even sleep better.

Time also seems to pass slower without consuming excessive content!!

This is what I would like to invite you to experience as well, hence the creation of Profitable Learner -

more than making more money, we can find more peace and control in life when we are not controlled by endless scrolling of the phone.

Output may not be easy considering that we are so used to consuming content without active thinking.

Output requires more energy than input, that's why it would feel more resistant and harder to do.

Nothing worthy come easily.

By living and surviving, we are at all times releasing energy to the surrounding to keep our body temperature constant and our basic survival actions eg breathing.

To get ahead, we need to be willing to give more, share more energy, before we can do a value exchange later.

It's impossible to light a fire that give you warmth without first putting in some wood and fuels. Similarly it's impossible to make money if you are only taking in and absorbing knowledge from others without giving back.

After all, money is a medium of exchange and those who can allocate resources (including knowledge) rather than being allocated arw entitled to more financial reward.

Income increase is the result of you putting out and contributing your knowledge, product or service to others who need it.

Full guidance and support is available if you want to output more in a consistent sustainable manner.

No amount of input can change your life or income.

Only when you take action to "output" can you bring changes on yourself and the world.
