I received the question: “I have been an unsuccessful entrepreneur for quite some time. I haven’t really had anyone to help, or guide me through this journey of creating projects, and living the life that no one around me has ever ventured into. Not many people start businesses. Most people around me are employees, and they have the desire for me to follow in their path.
While there is nothing wrong with being an employee, I just feel like I have a greater calling. I think there are more fulfilling things for me to do in this world.
So, my goal in this post is to find out how to find a mentor. Someone that has “been there and succeeded at that”. I want someone to tell me what they think I should do to help an industry.”

I totally relate to your thinking that “there are more fulfilling things for me to do in this world” — I don’t believe that we’re here to work til retirement, then live below our means until we die.
How to find a mentor:
Question 1 :
what’re you trying to accomplish — you’re right about Someone that has “been there and succeeded at that”. So what’re you trying to accomplish? Without getting clear on that, pretty hard to find someone.
Question 2:
do you have any budget? Most ppl who have “been there and succeeded at that” won’t give away experience for free. Nobody ever get rich from freebies (or else everyone would be rich). Better be clear about your budget or start saving now.
Question 3:
personality match — very important. I once found a sales coach who is an extrovert and I’m an introvert so the way he operates is definitely not sth for me, wasted thousands of dollars but a good lesson learnt.
To start with, I don’t think you need someone very advanced (the guru — you won’t probably have personal access to them anyone unless you pay over 6 fig).
I’d say start with Someone that has “been there and succeeded at that” in a smaller version of what you ultimately want to achieve.
Then you can always learn and earn in the process, and upgrade to another coach. That’s what I’ve done.
