How a 22-year-old data analyst replaces salary with side business

Just helped a 22 year old female working as a data analyst.

To be honest 9-5 has never stood out to her.

In her exact words

" i believe in working hard towards something in the short-term to reap its benefits in the long term. It’s very tough for me to stay in one spot, my mind is always wandering and never really stops working. I feel like I can never fully commit myself to a company since I’ll never be satisfied with the pay and also won’t see any advantage in it for me. I know I have the skills and knowledge"

I can resonate with her immediately cuz I can never fully commit myself to a company too.

Here're my 6 top advice and motivation for you if you feel the same:

1. don't quit job before you can make as least as much as your salary on the side

2. when you can make 70k or even 100k a year in a side business, even working same hours as your job, you'll somehow feel 10x more satisfying and fulfilling (and you gain confidence in controlling own finances, rather than in the hands of the employer)

3. market validation is important - may not be linkedin, but finding your first paying client is going to be a key step that should be done asap

4. most likely, the ideas you have would have been done by someone else - perfectly normal and that's market validation too! doesn't mean you can't still do it, there are ways to differentiate

5. you are definitely not being stupid for taking risk - the most risk one could take is not taking any risk at all.

6. if you also don't see yourself working 9-5 for 70k a year for 40-50 years, you have the mindset of an entrepreneur, but that's not enough, need to have strategy and actions to match that mindset as well, otherwise it stays a dream and a wish.
